Les Teochews sont un groupe ethnique chinois originaire de la région de Chaoshan (潮山), à l'est de la province du Guangdong en Chine. Autrefois, ce territoire était la préfecture de Teochew, autrement dit Cháozhōu (潮州) en mandarin. Il convient de noter que la préfecture est une division administrative du territoire, à distinguer de la ville actuelle de Chaozhou, qui faisait partie de ladite préfecture.
